Businesses in Gladstone, Queensland are being encouraged to participate in a major project aimed at reinforcing the electricity pathways network in the region.
Local businesses have been invited to express their interest in 54 work packages, including a wide range of opportunities such as 4WD training, access track construction, accommodation, civil works, and more.
Gladstone plays a key role in driving Queensland’s economy, accounting for around 20% of the state’s electricity demand. To meet growing demand, energy provider Powerlink is strengthening and expanding the electricity pathways network over the next decade, primarily driven by industries who are electrifying their operations.
A Powerlink spokesperson highlighted the importance of local business involvement:
“The Gladstone region is vital to the stability of Queensland’s electricity grid and reinforcement is critical as the network evolves.
“By engaging local businesses in this significant project, we can also build the capability of businesses and the resilience of the local economy.
“We also recognise the strength of First Nations businesses within the region and would encourage them to consider working with us on this project.”
Local businesses interested in this opportunity are encouraged to register by Wednesday, April 30, 2025.
